Citizens for San Andreas is an ad-hoc
committee of residents of the Community of San Andreas.
We represent a broad cross section of the community.
of some of the organizations that are represented.)
Citizens for San Andreas is a member of
the Calaveras Planning Coalition, a partnership of Calaveras
County citizens' organizations that have banned together to
watch over, and work with the County during the update of
the County's General Plan.
It is our belief that Calaveras County
and its elected officials are here to work for us, the
citizens of Calaveras County. The county is now in the
process of updating our County General Plan, the document
that defines where and how this county will grow. In other
words, it defines what Calaveras County will be ten, twenty,
or more years from now.
The San Andreas Community Plan is an
integral part of the County's General Plan. It specifically
addresses what San Andreas will be in future years. The
currently community plan was adopted June 1, 1988. Since
then, the population of the county has roughly doubled, but
luckily, the population of San Andreas has not increased as
rapidly...that is, UP UNTIL NOW. Currently, there are
proposed new housing developments in San Andreas and there
are many more to come.
Calaveras County has indicated that it
is its intent that all community plans be included as
components of the 2008 Calaveras General Plan. This is
important in that this one document will contain guidance
for all future development within Calaveras County. In the
past there have been myriad documents that addressed
separate areas of the planning spectrum, in the future all
that information will reside in a single, well thought out
document that is consistent throughout.
At this time, it is crucial that the
citizens of San Andreas ban together and make their concerns
known. Citizens for San Andreas is a group of volunteers
working to assure that our voices will be heard by Calaveras
County. Citizens for San Andreas is a member of the
Calaveras Planning Coalition, a partnership of community and
environmental citizens organizations that have banned together to
watch over, and work with the County during the update of
the County's General Plan.
